See Sanrio's Last Year at Tanaka Farms
Updated: Oct 5, 2019
Sanrio's 3-year run at Tanaka Farms is ending and you'll want to catch all the festivities.
Thanks to Tanaka Farms, Vanessa Barrios of MamaHood Adventures (and my co-founder for The Museum Mamas) and I were able to host a play date with fellow blogger moms from LA Mommy Tribe, So Cal Disney Moms--as well as our personal pool from The Museum Mamas.
Bloggers in attendance (from left to right) were Maricela Alicia Chamagua of Alicia C. Creative, Lindsey of The Cosby Crew, Shaina Freeman-Gonzalez of Twinthusiastic, Vanessa of MamaHood Adventures, myself, Angelica Gaxiola of The Sweeter Taste of Life and Co-founder of So Cal Disney Moms, Nadia of Fluffy One, and Jasmin Leon of Creating Lovelinesst.
Upon arrival--we received a map of the farm and these super cute hello kitty crowns!
We were provided with our own tent, so we would have a section to craft Hello Kitty no mess, no stress..and NO Carving-required pumpkins. Of course Tanaka provided us with just the perfect little polar bear pumpkins for our project!
You'll want to head over to my Instagram Page, Happiest Jen on Earth, to search for the video tutorial under the highlight "Tanaka Farms: Pumpkin Patch."
Our Hello Kitty pumpkin craft was inspired by The Fun Money Mom and her Black Cat Pumpkin no-carve craft.
Our Simple Pumpkin Material List:
1. Tacky Glue
3. Foam sheets (black, sparkly pink, white, and yellow)
4. White Pumpkin
5. A set of hands and eager toddlers and preschoolers!
Take your time, and feel free to mix up the items. As you can see, we tweaked the materials list a bit to feed our needs on our destination play date.
After our craft, we went on a wagon ride! Wagon rides are $6 per person or included in the Hello Kitty Package which is $20 per person. This included picking our own pumpkin under 20 pounds. On the wagon ride, you are given a tour of the 30-acre farm which comes with audio of Tanaka Farm's history and mission statement. You'll also be able to see pumpkins launching from a canon every time a wagon ride makes its way around the farm!
If you grow hungry from your day on the farm, check out their food stand. The menu varies with a wider selection on the weekends! Make sure to order a strawberry lemonade, as it is their specialty drink and given highly recommended reviews from the locals.
There are a ton of photo ops all over the farm! Some are farm-inspired, as well as Hello Kitty inspired. You'll want to make sure to get some fun shots of both.
One of the highlights of this farm experience is being able to pick your own pumpkin! There are a ton to choose from, but this is a snippet of the kinds of pumpkins you'll find there:
1. Cinderella Pumpkin
2. Fairytale Pumpkin
3. Porcelain Doll Pumpkin
4. Jarrahdale Pumpkin
5. Polar Bear Pumpkin
and so many more...
The pumpkin patch is open from 9AM to 6PM and will run from now until October 31st. Admission is $4 per person (ages 2 and under are free), but we recommend getting the $20 Hello Kitty package which includes entry, a wagon ride, the barnyard exhibit and a Hello Kitty Gift (while supplies last). Parking is free during the weekdays, but passes are required on the weekend since it gets so busy! You are able to purchase the parking passes online, so it's not a hassle at all.
Tanaka Farms grows and harvests over 60 different fruits and vegetables throughout the year.
Farm tours are as follows:
1. Strawberry Tours: March - June
2. Melon/Corn Picking Tours: July - August
3. Pumpkin Patch Tour: September - October
4. Holiday Tour: December
This farm also focuses on educating and entertaining families. Children will learn about vegetables when participating in the U-Pick Veggie garden where a farmer helps the children pick their own veggies.
Other fun activities at the park not pictured are the corn maze, barnyard exhibit where you can visit animals, and games. This will be the last year that Tanaka Farms will be doing a Sanrio License, so next year has a ton of new things in store! If you haven't been at Tanaka's to experience the Sanrio experience, now is the time to go.
I had such a great time at Tanaka Farms and cannot wait to come back for the holiday tour in December!
As always, be sure to check out the full event on my IG: @ happiestjenonearth for highlights of our happy adventure under "Tanaka Farms: Pumpkin Patch."
