Lewis Littles Do KidCon Anaheim 2019
Updated: Sep 19, 2019
The creators who brought us MommyCon and DaddyCon, bring KidCon to Anaheim!
KidCon had its first annual Anaheim event at Great Wolf Lodge on August 17, 2019. Great Wolf Lodge was the perfect location for hosting KidCon 2019 Anaheim because it's the destination hotel for families and kids!
During the convention, families either chose to stay the day, night, or weekend at the hotel. We spent our lunch break at Hungry As a Wolf and grabbed a small bucket of candy at The Candy Company on our way out. Next time, we plan to make a day of it and spend the night at the hotel to check out their famous water park!
So, what is KidCon? It's a kid-centric event designed for kids and their families to enjoy interactive areas for the kids, discussion panels for the parents, and shopping for everyone.
Here's a list of Kid Zones they had this year:
1. Animal Adventure 11. Laser Tag
2. Archery Tag 12. Music Madness
3. Be A Maker 13. Nerf Wars
4. Bubble Pop 14. Off To The Races
5. Building Blocks 15. Performance Area
6. Cake Decorating 16. Reading Nook
7. Coding Corner 17. Sensory Hour
8. Creative Construction 18. Slime
9. Free Your Play 19. The Splash
10. Hair Bar 20. Video Gaming
The suggested age for the event is 3 and older, but we brought my 22-month-old along and she was still highly amused. If you are bringing babies and crawlers, I suggest baby wearing as the space with the kid zones and vendors can be narrow. You are allowed to bring strollers into their events, but be aware that they will ask you to fold up strollers if it becomes too congested.
The Kid Zone Mila enjoyed the most was the Bubble Pop zone which was hosted by OC Bubble Pop in Tustin. You can't really go wrong with bubbles as I've found in my experience that they are always a hit with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. They had a bubble machine that constantly blew bubbles for the kids to run in and a station where kids could make and blow bubbles.
Aria's favorite Kid Zone was Off To The Races hosted by PonyCycle. What I found to be special about these toys are that they are not like the electronic ones you find at most malls. These pony toys simulate the actual experience of having to ride on a real pony and require steering manually from left to right. We believe in the Montessori style of learning, so it's important to me that toys are operated more realistically. For those who also prefer this learning style, PonyCycle also offers real life animals such as chocolate brown horses and wild life animals like zebras.
As most of you have seen in Instagram pictures galore, most of us took shots with an amazing balloon background! The curated balloons at the event were done by Twisted4Balloons and More. This is a local small-business from Murrieta, California. I was extremely impressed by the color choices and organization of the balloons. This company is truly a gem and I hope more people become aware of their party presence.
During the event we ran into some Mommy Bloggers from my tribe, the Los Angeles Mommy Blogger Tribe! Bloggers in attendance (in order from left to right) included Kelly Short from Navigating Life's Joyful Challenges, Monica Villa from Monica Plus 2, and Roxy Jimenez who is not only the owner of Fit4Mom Los Angeles, but also the creator and writer of Los Angeles Mama Life.
I'm so glad they finally brought KidCon to Anaheim! If you're a mom, this is an event I suggest not missing out on next year. If you missed this event, you can attend MommyCon Anaheim 2019 on October 5th at Great Wolf Lodge to get a taste of what their parent events are like. Hope to see you there!
As always, be sure to check out the full event on my IG: @ happiestjenonearth for highlights of the event under "KidCon."
